Time to Stop Trusting Him

If you still trust this guy, you need to stop. I’d like to give you more time to discover on your own how bad he is and voluntarily renounce him...I’d like to give you a chance to save face a little, to come up with an excuse for originally supporting him that doesn’t make you look like a gullible chump (or worse). But it’s been a year now. You’ve had plenty of time. If you still believe this infantile, selfish maniac, if you can still stand to listen to him, if you still aren’t scared for America, you’re not paying attention. You need to put all your political opinions in a box in the basement, come back upstairs, and listen to some legitimate news for a month. You need to admit you’ve not been following current events, but just playing with them. You need to get your news from journalists, not Fox News and angry talk radio. You need to start thinking of citizenship like homework or like pitching in to sandbag a breach in the levee — it’s serious work, not a game of pretend and not something you can cheat your way through. 

Stop yelling at the TV long enough to think quietly and hard what your grandparents would have said about your recent political behavior, the behavior of the politicians you cheer for, about the things you say in public now that you never would have said in private before.
